Recount

Recounts tell the reader what happened. They retell a past event e.g. a visit to a farm two month ago. Recounts begin by telling the reader who was involved, what happened, where this event took place and when it happened. This is called the orientation . The sequence of events is then described in some sort of order e.g. time. There may be a reorientation at the end which summarized the event. Writing recounts  When writing recounts you should : focus on individual people i.e. use the words "I" or "we" use words which indicate when (e.g. after lunch) and where the events took place (e.g. in the shed) write in the past tense e.g. had, visited use action words e.g. helped, crutched. This way a very long day but I enjoyed it a lot. for example : Title                                               EARTHQUAKE Orientation       I was driving along the coast road when the car                         suddenly lurched to one side.  Event 1            At first

Procedure 2

Procedures help us do a task or make something. They can be a set of instructions or directions. e.g. : step by step method to germinate seeds. Generic structure :  title goal material and equipment needed steps Language features : use impresives include technical terms use words that tell the reader how, when, and where to perform the task for example : HOW TO BOIL AN EGG     Do you know how to boil an egg? Well, this is the way. First, heat a saucepan of water on the stove. Then, put the egg in the boiling water.     Next heat it until it boils. After that, cook it for three minutes. Don't forget to leave the egg until it gets burnt. Now, the egg is ready to serve. Finally, serve it with pepper powder and salt.

Procedure

Procedure descibes how something is done through a sequence of orders or steps. The sequence of orders is marked by words : First, then, next, after that, Finally. The structure of the text consists of : Goal, Material needed ( sometimes ), Steps/Methods. For example THE HOLE GAME ( called Goal )     Two players, one marble per person, a hole on the ground, a line to start from . ( called Material Needed ) First, check whether the marbles are good or not and whether they are in same size. Then, dig a hole on the ground and draw a line in fair distance away from the hole. Next, each player carefully throws his or her marbles towards the hole.  The player whose marble is the closest to the hole tries to flick his/her marbles into the hole. If succesful, this player tries to flick his/her opponent's marble into the hole. The person who can flick the both marbles ( his/ hers and the opponent's ) into the hole wins. He/she will keep both marbles.  ( called Steps )
